You are trying to connect to your old Numericable email account and the usual homepage is no longer responding. The address ending in @numericable.fr still exists, but the way to access it has changed since the merger with SFR. Here’s how to find your messages without wasting time.

Numericable IMAP and SMTP Servers: Technical Settings to Know

Before discussing the web interface, one point deserves your attention: the technical configuration of your Numericable email. If you are using software like Thunderbird, Outlook, or the Mail app on an iPhone, the old settings remain valid, but a single incorrect parameter can block reception.

The IMAP incoming server is imap.numericable.fr, on port 993 with SSL encryption. For sending, the SMTP server is smtp.numericable.fr, on port 465, also using SSL. These settings have not changed after the migration to SFR.

Why start there? Because many former Numericable subscribers accessed their emails via an email client, not through webmail. If your software suddenly displays a connection error, the problem often stems from an expired password or an incorrectly specified port, not from account deletion.

  • Incoming protocol: IMAP, server imap.numericable.fr, port 993, SSL enabled
  • Outgoing protocol: SMTP, server smtp.numericable.fr, port 465, SSL enabled
  • Username: your full address in @numericable.fr (not just the part before the @)
  • Password: the one associated with your SFR account since the migration

If the connection fails after checking these settings, the password is the most common cause. The rest of this article explains how to reset it.

Accessing Numericable Webmail via the SFR Mail Portal

The old portal webmail.numericable.fr no longer exists as a standalone page. Any attempt to log in now redirects to webmail.sfr.fr, the only web interface that provides access to your @numericable.fr inbox.

The procedure is straightforward. On the webmail.sfr.fr page, enter your full address ([email protected]) in the username field, then your password. If your account has been successfully migrated, you will find your folders, address book, and old messages.

A detailed guide allows you to recover your Numericable webmail by following each connection step on the SFR portal.

The migration, which began on July 22, 2019, according to SFR support, transferred emails, contacts, and calendars. Transfer or forwarding rules were also retained. However, incoming rules and custom folders had to be recreated manually. If you didn’t do this at the time, those filters are no longer active.

Forgotten Password: Resetting from the SFR Customer Area

This is the most common blockage. You remember your address, but the password no longer works. Two scenarios arise.

If you are still an SFR customer (even with a different plan from the old Numericable subscription), log in to your customer area on sfr.fr. In the account management section, there is an option to change the password for your email address without going through webmail.

If you are no longer an SFR customer, the situation becomes more complicated. The “Forgot Password” link on the webmail.sfr.fr login page sends a reset email to a backup address. You must have defined one. Otherwise, you can contact SFR support by phone or via online chat to verify your identity and unlock access.

Check that the @numericable.fr address is still active

The old @numericable.fr addresses remain maintained and operational within the SFR ecosystem. No deletion date has been announced. Your inbox likely still exists, even if you haven’t accessed it for several years.

A simple test: ask a friend to send you an email to your @numericable.fr address. If the message does not bounce back with an error, the account is active. You just need to regain access.

Email Account Security After the SFR Data Breach

In August 2026, SFR reported a data breach concerning fiber subscribers. Email addresses were part of the compromised information, although passwords and banking data were reportedly not affected according to the operator.

For a holder of an @numericable.fr address migrated to SFR, this breach means that your address may have been exposed and used in phishing campaigns. Two precautions are necessary after regaining access to your inbox.

  • Change your password immediately, choosing a combination of at least twelve characters mixing letters, numbers, and symbols
  • Check the forwarding rules in the SFR webmail settings: an attacker may have added a redirect to an external address
  • Activate a backup email address in your customer area to facilitate any future reset

This vigilance also applies to third-party applications connected to your account. If you had authorized a service or application to read your Numericable emails, revoke these accesses in the security settings of the SFR customer area, then reauthorize only those you still use.

The @numericable.fr address still works, hosted by SFR’s infrastructure. The main obstacle remains the password, not the availability of the service. Take a few minutes to secure access once and for all: a strong password and a configured backup address will prevent you from going through this process again.
